Izumo Taisha is cherished as a shrine associated with relationships and connections. Walk the approach, pay your respects at the worship hall, and visit the Kagura Hall. It makes a welcoming starting point for a first trip to Izumo.
Sights
Take your time along the approach
After passing through the torii gate, take a look at the grounds map before heading straight to your destination. The worship hall and Kagura Hall are separate buildings, each worth visiting as part of your walk.
The Izumo way of worship
The customary sequence is two bows, four claps, and one bow. Follow the guidance at the shrine and take your time. If you want a closer view of the main sanctuary, check which areas are open to visitors.
