Enjoying the Tottori Shan-Shan Festival
Tottori's festival fills the streets with dances using umbrellas adorned with bells. Choose between the mass umbrella dance, Suzukko dance and hands-on sessions, and check how preparations differ for spectators and dancers.
Events for your travel dateChoose separately between the mass dance and eve festival
The mass umbrella dance takes place in central Tottori, while the Suzukko eve festival has a different venue and time. Umbrella-dance trial sessions are separate activities too. Use the current year's programme and venue map to choose what you want to see.

Watching and joining the dance require different preparation
Watching in the street is different from joining a dance team. Dancers must meet requirements such as application periods, team sizes, registration and practice. Do not assume you can join on the spot; check recruitment rules or trial-session information.

Plan travel around town and your journey back
Use the day's venue map and traffic restrictions to choose a viewing street and route back to the station. Treat other related events as separate destinations, and allow for crowds and bus changes after the dancing finishes.
