Eastern Tottori without a car
Use Tottori Station as a base and choose between the city centre, dunes and Iwami. Plan the train journey, onward bus and final walk separately, and use your return connections to decide how far to go.
Events for your travel dateCombine walking and loop buses in the city
Warabekan is about a 20-minute walk from Tottori Station. You can also use services such as the green route of the Kururi city loop bus. Rain and luggage can make a walk harder, so include the distance from the bus stop to the entrance when choosing your route.

Allow for walking after getting off at the dunes
Take a regular bus from Tottori Station towards the dunes. The dunes entrance and Sand Museum use different stops. Plan around the day's services rather than assuming the weekend and holiday Loop Kirinjishi runs on weekdays too. Allow time for the walk out and back on the sand and for breaks.

Check onward transport from Iwami Station to the coast
Reaching Iwami Station does not mean you have reached the coast. Choose a specific destination such as Uradome beach, Makidani or the sightseeing boat pier, then check buses or taxis to that point. Arriving at a general coast map marker does not put every activity within a short walk.

Choose return connections before adding stops
Check the last connection back to the station and any onward train or airport bus first. If return times do not work, reduce your stops or consider booking a taxi. Include waiting time, not just time on board, when planning.
