From Osaka and Kyoto to Tottori

Reserve a seat on the limited express

All seats on the Super Hakuto limited express are reserved. Before boarding, obtain the required reserved-seat limited-express ticket as well as your basic-fare ticket, and choose a train serving your departure station and destination. If a direct train from Kyoto does not fit your plans, also search for connections via Osaka.

Check Osaka boarding points and operating days

Highway buses towards Tottori use different boarding points and routes, including Osaka Umeda and Namba. Locate the stop on your reservation and check for services limited to certain days. They do not all leave from the railway's Osaka Station.

From Kyoto, compare routes that are operating

At the time of checking, Nihon Kotsu lists all Kyoto–Tottori bus services as suspended. Do not plan around a direct highway bus from Kyoto; compare rail with available buses reached via Osaka. Check official notices for service resumptions and changes.

Continue from Tottori Station to the sights

After reaching Tottori Station, you still need onward transport to the dunes or Iwami. Allow for bus operating days, transfers and walking rather than treating station arrival as arrival at your destination. Check these alongside your reserved return journey to Kansai.
